]]> The International Opera Awards 2022, founded in 2013 by Harry Hyman, a British businessman, and John Allison, editor of the British magazine Opera, were presented earlier this week at the Teatro Real in Madrid, outside the UK for the first time in their history. Sabine Devieilhe and Stéphane Degout were chosen as Best Singers of the Year. The remarkable artists are both French, so there’s plenty of national pride (and legendary arrogance) to go around!
