]]> As he prepares to conduct the revival of Verdi‘s Simon Boccanegra (at the Opéra national de Paris from 12 March to 3 April 2024, directed by Calixto Bieito) with the exceptional Ludovic Tézier, eagerly awaited in the title role, conductor Thomas Hengelbrock has been appointed Music Director of the Orchestre de chambre de Paris. The famous Parisian orchestra, which has been in mourning since the death of Lars Vogt, now has a new major figure in its ranks. Familiar with the capital, Hengelbrock is the founder of the Balthasar Neumann Ensemble.

]]> As Bizet’s Carmen, the most performed French opera in the world, returns to the Opéra Bastille from 15 November to 3 December 2022 (then from 28 January to 25 February 2023) in Calixto Bieito‘s production, the bill holds a surprise.
Alongside Michael Spyres’ Don José, Carmencita is perfomed by Gaëlle Arquez, who will then be at the Salle Favart, the stage where the French opera masterpiece was born, from 24 April to 4 May 2023. As Gaëlle Arquez’s abundance does not harm, music lovers will be able to see two visions of Carmen conducted by Fabien Gabel at the Bastille and by Long Yu at Favart (the Opéra Comique’s stage director is Andreas Homoki).
