Carnegie Hall shapes its season

With its legendary acoustics, Carnegie Hall has announced a number of changes for the new 2023-2024 season. The talented young pianist Alexandre Kantorow has confirmed that he will replace Maurizio Pollini on 22 October 2023. Handel’s Rodelinda gets a new cast (December 10). The Boston Symphony Orchestra adds a new work by Tania León to its concerts on 29 and 30 January 2024. Among others, Beatrice Rana performs Scriabin, Castelnuovo-Tedesco Debussy and Liszt’s Sonata in B rather than Scarlatti and Albéniz (28 February). Finally, Franz Welser-Möst, with the Wiener Philharmoniker, is switching programmes. Audiences on 1 March 2024 will hear the works on the 2nd and vice versa!

Blue for Otello

After performing the premiere of an Aucoin, Bernstein, Tchaikovsky and Verdi concert at Carnegie Hall in New York (22 June 2023), Yannick Nézet-Séguin is taking his orchestra to Europe. The Met Orchestra is expected to perform on 27 June 2023 at the Philharmonie de Paris and on 2 July at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden with soprano Renée Fleming to perform as Desdemona in Act IV of Verdi’s Otello alongside tenor Russell Thomas. As the soprano withdrew from the performance, Angel Blue replaced her, bringing a touch of blue to the dark drama!

The live show still stopped in New York

Even if New York City has started a gradual deconfinement since June 8, 2020, caution remains the thing to do. The American Ballet Theater has just canceled its fall season while Carnegie Hall, the legendary concert hall has announced that it will only open its doors on January 7, 2021.

In the same spirit, the Broadway theaters will remain closed until 2021.

Great pianist Murray Perahia had to withdraw from his upcoming recital at Carnegie Hall on 25 March 2020 due to medical reasons.

Young and talented 22 years old pianist Alexandre Kantorow, recent gold medal and Grand Prix winner at the International Tchaikovsky Competition, replaces by performing works by Brahms, Liszt, Fauré, and Stravinsky.

Martha Argerich has withdrawn her recital at Carnegie Hall

Pianist Martha Argerich has withdrawn from her duo-recital with violinist Itzhak Perlman on Thursday, March 22 at 8 PM in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage. Ms. Argerich—who was scheduled to perform at Carnegie Hall as part of a six-concert US tour—has withdrawn from all upcoming US tour engagements this spring due to family and health problems.
