]]> Hot topings at Milan’s Teatro alla Scala. As Verdi’s Don Carlo, the big event of the season opening, is being rehearsed, we learn of the defection of René Pape in the role of Filippo II. He is replaced by Michele Pertusi (as is Ekaterina Semenchuk in the role of Eboli by Veronica Simeoni on 30 December 2023 and 2 January 2024). On the dance side, another event took place on 7 November 2023, when Nicoletta Manni was appointed new Étoile del Teatro alla Scala after the performance of John Cranko’s Onegin. Last but not least, on 16 November 2023, the Callas 100 exhibition opened at the Museo del Teatro alla Scala. In homage to the great diva who marked the history of interpretation, five artists involved interpret the image of Callas in an itinerary that includes the costume she wore in Don Carlo in 1954.
