]]> After causing a sensation as Strauss‘s perverse Salome at the Opéra Bastille last season, Elza van den Heever returns to her sultry director Lydia Steier, this time to play the pure Julia, heroine of Spontini’s La Vestale. The superb soprano, on stage in Paris from 15 June to 11 July 2024, will be partnered by a luxury tenor in Michael Spyres in the role of the Roman general Licinius. Created at the height of the Napoleonic era, the work has not been performed on the stage of the Opéra national de Paris for some one hundred and fifty years! A long-awaited return to the original version, in French.
