]]> A masterpiece of lyric tragedy, Marc-Antoine Charpentier‘s Médée is back on the bill of the Académie royale de Musique (former name of the Opéra national de Paris) after centuries of absence. Created in 1693 and then forgotten until the 1980s, this opéra is returning to the Académie for the first time, and will be performed at the Palais Garnier from 10 April to 11 May 2024. Although he has already tackled the character in Cherubini‘s opera, David McVicar is proposing a new staging with Lea Desandre in the terrible role of Medea, which she is playing for the first time. Reinoud Van Mechelen, Ana Vieira Leite and Laurent Naouri complete the cast with Les Arts Florissant conducted by William Christie, who is also making his return to Garnier.
