A double event awaits Lise Davidsen

The great soprano Lise Davidsen, who recently triumphed by stepping in for Anna Netrebko in Richard Strauss‘s Ariadne auf Naxos in Vienna, has just announced a double happy event. Indeed, the Wagnerian singer is expecting twins. At this time, we do not know if she will name them Sieglinde and Siegmund.

However, she is putting her career on hold and will be replaced in Vienna by Simone Schneider (Die Walküre) and Krassimira Stoyanova (Der Rosenkavalier), in London by Natalya Romaniw (Die Walküre), and at Barcelona’s Liceu by Asmik Grigorian in a Wagner concert alongside Matthias Goerne.

Boris loses his head in Paris too

After Toulouse, where Olivier Py‘s production premiered at the start of the 2023-2024 season, the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées is also losing its star. Matthias Goerne was due to take on the role of Boris Godunov in Mussorgsky‘s masterpiece, but the famous baritone will not be joining the cast in the end. After a perfect Parsifal, the Opéra national du Capitole de Toulouse returns to the great German conductor Frank Beermann to conduct Tristan und Isolde. Currentzis abandons Tristan

While the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden was waiting for the performances of Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde (17-20 November 2022) conducted by Teodor Currentzis with his MusicAeterna orchestra, the conductor announced that some singers were no longer fully available for the solo parts. So no more Wagner, but an alternative of comparable value has been found with Verdi’s Messa da Requiem, which will be performed by Zarina Abaeva, Eve-Maud Hubeaux, Matthias Goerne and a tenor whose name has not yet been announced. Wagnerians allergic to Verdi will be able to convert their tickets into vouchers or a donation, refunds remain also possible.
