The Palais Garnier is getting a facelift

One of the most photographed façades in the world will be discreet until the end of 2024. The famous Palais Garnier in Paris, built in 1875 and classified as a historic monument since 1923, is to have its main façade restored. Cleaning, depollution, replacement of damaged elements, restoration of gilding, sculptural elements and sculptures, anti-graffiti treatment of the base and installation of a pigeon-proofing system are all on the agenda, as are the events that will continue to take place in the iconic hall. During the entire construction period, access will be maintained at the same locations.
