Smetana 2024 goes big in the Czech Republic

The year 2024 commemorates 200 years since the birth of Czech composer Bedřich Smetana (1824–1884), whilst also marking the 140th anniversary of his passing. In cooperation with the Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava, the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre will stand as the sole opera house worldwide commemorating these milestones by presenting its own productions of all eight completed operas by Bedřich Smetana within the Smetana Opera Cycle Ostrava 2024. Bedřich Smetana’s operatic masterpieces The Brandenburghers in Bohemia, The Bartered Bride, Dalibor, The Two Widows, The Kiss, The Secret, The Devil’s Wall, and concert performance of Libuše can be experienced in in their entirety during 2–10 March and 4–12 May 2024 in Ostrava, Czech Republic.
