A Bach Opera at the Oper Leipzig

The name Bach is invariably associated with the city of Leipzig, where the cantor spent most of his career. His son, Johann Christian Bach, was born there and, like Carl Philipp Emanuel (another of Bach‘s more famous composer sons), composed numerous operas.

On September 21, 2024, for the season opening of the Oper Leipzig, Amadis, his masterpiece created in Paris in 1779, will be performed at the German venue. With the current Cantor of Leipzig, Thomas Andreas Reize, making his conducting debut at the Leipzig Opera with this work, the circle is complete, knowing that Father Bach once held the same position as Thomas Andreas Reize, Leipzig Cantor!
