In January 2025, the renowned Bach Collegium Japan will embark on a European tour, performing at the Philharmonie de Paris (January 21), the Halle aux Grains in Toulouse (January 24), the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona (January 21), as well as in Madrid, Germany, and the Netherlands. Founded by the exceptional conductor Masaaki Suzuki, a pioneer of period-instrument orchestras in Japan, the ensemble is now led by his son, Masato Suzuki, who has been its conductor since 2018. The program, centered on Mozart’s final works, will highlight another of Masato’s talents: his own revision of the famed Requiem, the last and famously unfinished masterpiece of the divine composer. Spanish audiences will enjoy a special treat, as both Masaaki and Masato Suzuki will appear on stage together, with Masaaki joining his son to conduct this new version.
