The Opernhaus Zürich wasted no time in announcing the name of its new director, who will succeed Andreas Homoki from the 2025 season. Matthias Schulz is already a well-known figure in the music world, as he is currently the director of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden (where he joined in 2015). Born in Bavaria, Matthias Schulz trained at the Salzburger Festspiele before joining the Stiftung Mozarteum, also in Salzburg. He will leave the Allee des Tilleuls to join the banks of Lake Zurich at the end of the 2023-2024 season.
