Berlin’s new Arabella

New productions punctuate the 2022-2023 season of the Deutsche Oper Berlin with some highly anticipated operas. From 18 March 2023, Richard Strauss’s beautiful Arabella will be portrayed by Rachel Willis-Sørensen, the rising star of the sopranos. Donald Runnicles, the German institution’s artistic director, is conducting the production by Tobias Kratzer, who is back after his successes at the Opéra national de Paris (Faust) and in Bayreuth (Tannhäuser). Rachel Willis-Sørensen’s partners include Russell Braun (Mandryka) and Elena Tsallagova (Zdenka).
