Carlo Vistoli, one of the few Italian countertenors, has just been recognized by the San Francisco Opera by winning the 2024 Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Emerging Stars Competition. After recently winning the “Abbiati” Prize from the Italian music critics, this is another accolade for Vistoli, who made his San Francisco debut in the role of Arsace in Handel‘s Partenope. Europeans will soon be able to applaud him at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, where, from September 26 to October 5, 2024, he will star in Cesti’s L’Orontea, directed by Robert Carsen and conducted by Giovanni Antonini. He is also expected in Paris at the Salle Gaveau on November 9 for a recital before taking the stage at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, where he will star in a new production of Handel’s Semele (from February 6 to 15, 2025).
