The new conductor of the NDR Orchester, the orchester residing in the ElbPhilharmonie in Hambourg, has been named. It is Alan Gilbert who will take Thomas Hengelbrock’s place starting from season 2019-2020!
An intense end of season at Teatro alla Scala de Milano in September and October with three opera productions, Humperdincks’ Hänsel und Gretel, Händel’s Tamerlano (starring Plácido Domingo) and Weber’s Der Freischütz, one ballet, Onegin (starring Roberto Bolle) and a song recital with Daniela Barcellona (on October 1st).
A concert version of Debussy’s Pelléas et Mélisande is performed at Sydney Opera House wuth the Sydney Symphony Orchestra conducted by Charles Dutoit, on 23, 24 & 28 June with Michaela Selinger, Marc Barrard and Jérôme Varnier.
On 28 June at Paris’ Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, superb soprano Pretty Yende performs her first Paris recital in a French & Italian opera arias concert
As it is now harder to visit the USA for an artist, Russian pianist Daniil Trifonov prefers not to leave the country and cancels the concert in Baden-Baden on 21 July 2017. Behzod Abduraimov replaces him and performs with Valery Gergiev.
The opera season is not finished yet at Zurich for example, Wagner’s Lohengrin staged by Andreas Homoki, is conducted by Fabio Luisi from July 4th!
Beautiful Russian soprano Olga Peretyatko-Mariotti performs a role-debut as Leila in Bizet’s Les pêcheurs de perles on June 24th at Staatsoper Berlin.
From June 19th, all opera lovers will attend Richard Strauss’ Elektra at Wiener Staatsoper starring the fanstatic Nina Stemme!
