Charles’s choices

On May 6, 2023, all the world’s television stations will broadcast the crowning of the new king of the United Kingdom. It is said at Buckingham Palace that the future Charles III would have chosen himself the music for this ceremony which will take place at Westminster Abbey.

Byrd, Elgar and Handel are on the playlist as well as contemporary works by Sarah Class, Patrick Doyle, Iain Farrington, Nigel Hess, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Paul Mealor, Tarik O’Regan, Roxanna Panufnik, Shirley J. Thompson, Judith Weir, Roderick Williams and Debbie Wiseman.

Prestigious guest performers will include Pretty Yende, Bryn Terfel, Roderick Williams as performer, conductors John Eliot Gardiner and Antonio Pappano leading the Royal Philharmonic, the Monteverdi Choir and The English Baroque Soloists.
