The most Italian of French operas, Gounod’s Romeo and Juliet, has not been performed at the Opéra national de Paris since 1985 (sic). From 13 to 21 December 2021, the Opéra Comique will once again perform the great masterpiece with an ideal cast (Julie Fuchs, Jean-François Borras, Adèle Charvet, Philippe-Nicolas Martin, Jérôme Boutillier with Laurent Campellone conducting and the elegant Éric Ruf for the staging and set design), as it did almost 30 years ago.
