At the Philharmonie de Paris, from Monday 16 to Thursday 19 March 2020, will take place the very first edition of the International Competition for Women Conductors, La Maestra (originally scheduled on March 2020).

The jury chaired by Ewa Bogusz-Moore (director of National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice) and composed by chefs such as Claire Gibault (who initiate the project with Laurent Bayle) Pablo Heras-Casado, Maxime Pascal or Sian Edwards will have to choose the best among twelve women conductors of ten different nationalities.

A dismaying reality, out of 778 permanent professional symphonic orchestras listed in the world in 2019, only 48 are lead by a woman (only 6.2%)!
