Breaking the waves, Lars von Trier’s film Grand Prix at the 1996 Cannes Film Festival, will not be screened at the Salle Favart in Paris on 28, 30 and 31 May 2023, but will be performed in its operatic version. The multi-awarded work by female composer Missy Mazzoli was premiered at the Philadelphia Opera in 2016.
