Madama Butterfly launches the 2021-2022 season of the Teatro de la Maestranza

The 2021-2022 ‘Entra en escena’ (Enter the stage) season of the Teatro de la Maestranza opened yesterday with a masterful performance of Puccini’s Madama Butterfly under the musical direction of Alain Guingal. The Sevillian institution, which announced its programme during the summer, is committed to strengthening the link between artists and audiences.

After Puccini, the opera season continues with the programme: Bellini’s I Capuleti e i Montecchi (9-13 December) conducted by Jordi Bernàcer; Manuel Penella’s El gato montés (17-19 February) conducted by Óliver Díaz and directed by Raúl Vázquez; Debussy’s Pelléas et Mélisande (22-26 March) conducted by the great French opera specialist Michel Plasson; and Verdi’s famous Traviata (14-24 July) conducted by Pedro Halffter and Manuel Busto.

Another highlight of the season is Carlos Mena‘s performance of ‘La soledad del héroe’ with his ensemble Capilla Santa María.

Tickets are now available for performances from December to March 2022. You will have to wait until November 2nd to book your tickets for the last part of the season.
