A few years ago, the revelation Elina Garanca took her first steps on an international stage in the role of Angelina. Following on from Irina Brook’s production in 2004, the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées is staging Rossini’s Cenerentola again from 9 to 19 October 2023, this time offering the emblematic role to a leading mezzo. Marina Viotti, acclaimed in Offenbach’s La Périchole, returns to the Avenue Montaigne for a new role, as she reserves to Paris her debut as Cinderella. With Thomas Hengelbrock conducting, the staging by Damiano Michieletto features a cast of young singers, all of whom, with the exception of tenor Levy Sekgapane, will be making their French debuts at the TCE.

At the last minute, the TCE has just announced that following a change of cast, Marina Viotti will sing her very first Carmen on 22 October 2023. A historic double for the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées!
