Martinique finds its opera house

Long before Fort-de-France, the charming city of Saint-Pierre in Martinique was the great capital of culture with its theater, a magnificent building that was designed on the same plans as the one in Bordeaux. In 1902, the eruption of Mount Pelee completely devastated the city, which retains the ruins as a trace of its glorious past.

For its fourth edition, under the artistic direction of Fabrice di Falco, the FILAO Festival will revive opera by offering Offenbach’s Les Contes d’Hoffmann sung by the talents of the Voix des Outre-mer in the ruins of the Saint-Pierre Theater. From 15 to 18 December 2022, the appointment is made, destination Saint-Pierre in Martinique!
