While she was preparing to conduct Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège (from 19 to 30 November 2021) in a production by the late Stefano Mazzonis di Pralafera, the beloved conductor Speranza Scappucci, who is due to undergo surgery, will be replaced by Renato Balsadonna. In addition to a Wagner/Strauss concert on 16 January 2022, music lovers in Liège will see Speranza conduct Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra from 16 to 25 June 2022.
