The talented conductor Omer Meir Wellber has been appointed as General Music Director of the Hamburg State Opera and its orchestra, the Philharmonisches Staatsorchester Hamburg. He succeeds Kent Nagano and will take up his new post from autumn 2025 while retaining his position as Music Director of the Volksoper Wien in Austria until the end of his contract on 31 August 2027. At the age of 41, he is also Music Director of the Teatro Massimo Palermo and Artistic Director of the Toscanini Festival.
