Opéra Comique: New dates, new schedules

The curfew imposed to fight against the pandemic in Paris will not prevent the show from continuing. The major event of the season will be held at the Opéra Comique.

The new production of Rameau’s Hippolyte et Aricie (in the expected production by Jeanne Candel) initially scheduled from 12 to 22 November 2020 is maintained throughout the period with an advanced schedule at 3pm. The premiere is brought forward to 11 November, a public holiday in France.

Rameau’s masterpiece is directed by Raphaël Pichon who has assembled an exceptional cast with Stéphane Degout as Theseus, Reinoud van Mechelen as Hippolyte, Elsa Benoit as Aricie and Sylvie Brunet-Grupposo as Phaedra. Even the other roles have been entrusted to such renowned singers as Lea Desandre and Nahuel di Pierro or to Edwin Fardini, a recent revelation at the Voix des Outre-mer competition.
