The flamboyant and committed violinist Patricia Kopatchinskaja is very much involved in changing attitudes. The Gstaad Menuhin Festival & Academy (14 July to 2 September 2023), whose theme for the 2023 season is “Humility”, has asked her to be the spokesperson for a “Change” cycle from 2023 to 2025, inspired by the words of Yehudi Menuhin, the founder of the festival in 1957: “The right of the people to peace and quiet, to clean air and water, to meadows and forests, and to wholesome food, is written into the constitution of every state.” Thanks to her art, Patricia Kopatchinskaja will also be artist-in-residence for the 2023/24 season at the Southbank Centre’s in London. No doubt she will have something to say and something to be heard!
