The year 2024 commemorates 200 years since the birth of Czech composer Bedřich Smetana (1824–1884), whilst also marking the 140th anniversary of his death. The National Moravian-Silesian Theatre in cooperation with the Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava will commemorate these anniversaries by staging the Smetana Opera Cycle Ostrava 2024. Bedřich Smetana’s operatic oeuvre comprised of The Brandenburghers in Bohemia, The Bartered Bride, Dalibor, The Two Widows, The Kiss, The Secret, The Devil’s Wall, and Libuše may be seen in its entirety during 2–10 March and 4–12 May 2024 in Ostrava, Czech Republic.
