Simone Young‘s contract as Principal Conductor of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra has just been extended until the end of 2026. A pioneer, Simone Young is one of the first generation of women conductors to have an international career that has attracted media attention. Australia’s largest orchestra can count on the talent of her compatriot (Simone Young was born in Sydney) to prepare the future of the orchestra as it prepares to celebrate its centenary in 2032.
