]]> The Semperoper continues the great tradition by regularly programming Richard Strauss‘s operas, many of which were first performed here in Dresden. For the revival of Ariadne auf Naxos directed by David Hermann (from 23 February 2023), the great French voice Catherine Hunold, Sarah Aristidou and Angela Brower will make their debut in loco, while Gregory Kunde will take on the role of Bacchus for the first time.

]]> Last minute: Unfortunately Adela Zaharia had to cancel her debut in Dresden for health reasons. Soprano Nina Minasyan replaces. 

 

A premiere is always an event in an opera house, especially when it is a renowned venue like the Semperoper Dresden and especially when it is a masterpiece like Verdi’s La Traviata!

From 2 October 2022, music lovers will be able to see Barbora Horáková‘s brand new production in a world inspired by the entertainment establishments and elegant salons of 19th-century French society. Adela Zaharia makes her Semperoper debut in the title role of the courtesan Violetta alongside Liparit Avetisyan as Alfredo on opening night.

]]> Jacques Offenbach, Emperor of French operetta is back to the country of his origin. From February 29, 2020, the Dresden Semperoper, one of the noblest German opera houses, will program a new production of the Grand Duchess of Gerolstein to be sung in the language of Goethe.

The superb Straussian soprano Anne Schwanewilms performs as the Duchess. Josef E. Köpplinger, current director of the Gärtnerplatztheater in Münich directs.
