]]> Currently on tour, Cecilia Bartoli cannot stop mourning her lost love as she embodies Orpheus in Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice. She will perform the role on two last upcoming dates: at the Philharmonie de Paris on Thursday, November 28, 2024, and at the Tonhalle in Zurich on November 30. This season, the great mezzo-soprano, is making fewer stage appearances as she dedicates herself to her roles as Artistic Director of the Salzburg Easter Festival and the Opéra de Monte-Carlo, where she will appear as Sesto in Mozart’s La Clemenza di Tito in January 2025. However, la Bartoli hasn’t forgotten her charitable commitments. She will give a special performance at a benefit concert for the International Opera Studio in Zurich on June 15, 2025.

]]> As it enters its 7th year, the Voix des Outre-mer competition is breaking new ground with a new award. The Christiane Eda Pierre prize will be awarded to the candidate from a friendly French overseas country. All you have to do to enter is live in a French-speaking country or speak French. The winner will sing in the final at the Opéra Bastille in front of the Voix des Outre-mer jury. He or she will take part in the Filao Festival. The next one is to be held in Saint-Pierre de la Martinique from 3 to 15 December 2024.

]]> The Cannes Dance Festival is offering the first edition of MOV’IN Cannes, its dance film competition. For its twenty-fourth edition, the event is breaking new ground while forging a natural link with cinema, an art form that is in the DNA of the city of Cannes. Seven professional judges from the two artistic fields, including Edilia Gäns, director of FEDORA, Tanin Torabi, Iranian choreographer and director, Jarmi Penttila, former Chaillot programming advisor, and Mathilda May, author, director and actress, president of the jury, will award a MOV’IN Cannes Grand Prize, a Ministry of Culture Prize, a Student Prize and the Audience Prize to the winners at a ceremony to be held on Thursday 30 November at the Cineum in Cannes-La Bocca. Of the 110 films received, 18 are in competition, half of which have been selected by partner institutions and festivals, and the other half by a panel of students from the PACA region.

]]> The titles of the operas to be performed at the 48th edition of the Festival della Valle d’Itria have been revealed. As usual, the famous opera festival in Martina Franca, in the beautiful Italian region of Puglia, is offering little or no known works. From 19 July to 6 August 2022, the new artistic director Sebastian F. Schwarz is offering four titles ranging from the 17th century to the present day: Cavalli’s Il Xerse (premiered in 1655), Bellini’s Beatrice di Tenda (1833) in a concert version conducted by Fabio Luisi, Arrigo Pedrollo’s Delitto e castigo (1926) based on Dostoyevsky’s Crime and Punishment, and finally the world premiere of Nicola Campogrande’s Opera italiana (composed in 2010). The courtyard of the Palazzo Ducale in Martina Franca will host the performances and also the recently renovated Teatro Verdi.

]]> Two staged operas, a ballet, a film-concert, a recital, two beautiful concerts and Beethoven’s Missa solemnis, the 2022 season of the Chorégies d’Orange has been unveiled with many highlights. Cancelled last season, the Verdi concert with La Scala de Milano will take conducted by the expert Riccardo Chailly. The opera is back in force with two masterpieces of the Italian repertoire. In Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, festival-goers can applaud Pretty Yende, René Barbera and Erwin Schrott. They will also be able to discover Ponchielli’s La Gioconda, another rarely performed masterpiece. The ticket office opens tomorrow!
