The new star of French piano at the Concertgebouw

While enjoying an exemplary career, the young French pianist Jonathan Fournel (winner of the 2021 Queen Elisabeth of Belgium International Music Competition) is continuing his meteoric rise. After a recent recital at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the holy of holies of concert halls, he returns to Beethoven at the Concertgebouw in Bruges this time, with the triple concerto, which he performs alongside Timothy Chooi on violin and Hayoung Choi on cello, other rising stars of the younger generation. Music lovers will then follow him to Vienna where he performs a Schubert, Franck and Szymanowski recital at the Konzerthaus on 29 May 2024.

It is now official, the flamboyant pianist Khatia Buniatishvili is expecting a happy event. The many fans she did not choose to be the father of her child will undoubtedly be heartbroken, as will the audience at Carnegie Hall where she was expected to perform on 11 May 2023. Rest assured, the concert has been rescheduled for October 19. Many venues will probably have to do the same, as the superb pianist’s schedule is always very busy.

András Schiff’s Bachs in Paris at last

Many tours have been disrupted by the pandemic, forcing organizers to do some gymnastics with their schedule. The famous Hungarian pianist Sir András Schiff resumes his tour with the Cappella Andrea Barca, which he has chosen personally. After the complete Mozart piano concertos, it is now the turn of the Bach concertos BWV 1052, 1053, 1054, 1055, 1056 & 1058 which will be heard on Tuesday December 13, 2022 at the Philharmonie de Paris, in the Grande Salle Pierre Boulez.

Grand pianist and conductor Vladimir Ashkenazy announced his retirement from public performances

At 82, grand pianist and conductor Vladimir Ashkenazy announced his retirement from public performances. Vladimir Ashkenazy was scheduled to conduct the Sydney Symphony Orchestra in May 2020.

The orchestra just announced the name of the new conductors. Carlos Miguel Prieto and Nicholas Carter conducts the concerts originally scheduled from 21 to 30 may, as part of the Northern Lights Festival.

Unfortunatly! Pianist Nelson Freire who was supposed to perform a piano recital at the Philharmonie de Paris on February 10, 2020 is forced to cancel for health reasons.

The concert is maintained thanks to the great pianist Elisabeth Leonskaja who replaces him. She will perform works by Beethoven, Schumann and Schubert.
