]]> The celebrated Italian soprano Anna Pirozzi continues her streak of triumphs.

Following a fiery performance as Maddalena di Coigny in Andrea Chénier by Giordano in Paris and Lyon, she will take on the role of Aida, Verdi’s famed Ethiopian slave, in London in a production directed by Robert Carsen (from January 28 to February 12, 2025).

She will then return to Puccini in Hamburg and Naples. From March 21 to April 4, 2025, at the Staatsoper, and from April 16 to 29, 2025, at the Teatro di San Carlo, she will perform as Minnie in La Fanciulla del West, a rarely staged opera composed by the Italian master.

]]> La Traviata by Giuseppe Verdi was born at Venice’s Teatro La Fenice. Like the famous phoenix that gives the theater its name, the opera house has burned down several times, the most recent in 1996. For the reopening of the restored venue, “Dov’era, com’era” (“as it was and where it was“), it was only fitting that Verdi’s masterpiece was chosen. The production, directed by renowned Canadian stage director Robert Carsen, has sparked much discussion and has since become iconic. With Verdi as the guiding theme of the 2024-2025 season at La Fenice, it is no surprise that, twenty years after its premiere, this production remains a cornerstone of the program. Diego Matheuz returns to the podium for four performances from November 22 to 30, 2024, with soprano Marina Monzò making her debut as Violetta, alongside Francesco Demuro and Nicola Alaimo.

Having already performed the role in Lima and Montevideo, the American-Chilean artist offers his European premiere on 24 and 26 November 2023 to Festspielhaus audiences who will be able to say “I was there”. As well as Thomas Hengelbrock conducting, his partners are Kate Lindsey, Brandon Cedel and the all-too rare Elsa Benoit.
