]]> After the broadcast of the Vienna New Year’s Concert, with champagne and petits fours barely digested, the Wiener Philharmoniker has just announced the name of the next guest conductor for the world’s most famous concert, watched by millions of viewers each year — and it’s a first!

Yannick Nézet-Séguin, a renowned star in the conducting world, music director of the Metropolitan Opera in New York, artistic and music director of the Philadelphia Orchestra, artistic director and principal conductor of the Orchestre Métropolitain de Montréal, honorary conductor of the Rotterdams Philharmonisch Orkest, and honorary member of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, will conduct the iconic Neujahrskonzert der Wiener Philharmoniker 2025 for the very first time.

Regarding this, Daniel Froschauer, the orchestra’s chairman, stated: “In choosing Yannick Nézet-Séguin we seek to fulfil our goal of working more with the younger generation of conductors”. Yannick Nézet-Séguin will turn 50 on March 6, 2025.

]]> 2024 is the great Bruckner year, as the Austrian symphonist just turned 200 years old (on September 4)! Bruckner remains in the spotlight during the 2024-2025 season at the Paris’ Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, where he will be featured in four unmissable events. On November 15 at 8 p.m., the Orchestre National de France will kick things off with his famous Fourth Symphony (the Romantic) conducted by Andris Poga.

Then, on January 16, 2025, the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris will follow with its new musical director. Thomas Hengelbrock, well-acquainted with the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, will conduct the Sixth Symphony, the only one of Bruckner’s orchestral works never revised.

A highlight of every season at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, the Wiener Philharmoniker will perform in Paris the next day, January 17, conducted by the legendary Zubin Mehta. The grandiose Ninth and unfinished final symphony is on the program. Finally, the dynamic Yannick Nézet-Séguin will close the mini cycle with the Rotterdam Philharmonisch Orkest on March 23, 2025, performing the Third Symphony, another masterpiece by the Master.

]]> Double news for Tugan Sokhiev obliged to renounce to come to New York to conduct a concert on May 10-12, 2023, because of a schedule conflict (James Gaffigan is replacing him at the head of the New York Philharmonic). On the other hand, the Russian conductor who presided over the destiny of the Orchestre national du Capitole from 2008 to 2022 will return to the pink city at the Halle aux Grains on Saturday, March 18, 2023, this time at the head of the prestigious Wiener Philharmoniker in a Rimsky-Korsakov and Tchaikovsky program. In addition, the Orchestre national du Capitole has announced the name of his replacement. The 22 year old Finnish conductor, Tarmo Peltokoski becomes the new Music Director of one of the best French orchestras.
