The 2020 program of the Aix-en-Provence International Lyric Art Festival has just been officially announced.

Five staged operas are scheduled: Berg’s Wozzeck conducted by Simon Rattle, a traditional Mozart masterpiece with Così fan tutte directed by the unconventional Dmitri Tcherniakov, the brilliant Rimsky-Korsakov’s Golden Cockerel directed by the great Barrie Kosky, a great baroque masterpiece with Monteverdi’s L’Incoronazione di Poppea conducted by Leonardo García Alarcón and the best of contemporary music with the world premiere of Innocence, Kaija Saariaho’s new opera.

With highly expectated recitals like Jakub Józef Orlinski’s, the great opera stars are in Aix. Christian Gerhaher perform as Wozzeck, Véronique Gens in Così and Sabine Devieilhe as the Queen of Shemakha in Golden Cockerel.

Definitely a great season in Aix!
