The conductor Simone Young named Chief Conductor of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra

In these hard times the news has been quite unnoticed, however, our Australian friends can be happy to welcome back one of their own. Indeed, the conductor Simone Young has been appointed Chief Conductor of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, from the 2022 season.

After Charles Mackerras and Stuart Challender, she is only the third Australian personality and also the very first woman who takes the head the famous orchestra. Waiting for 2022, a concert is announced in November 2020 where she will conduct Beethoven’s Symphony No.7.
