The King’s Singers, new icons in spite of themselves

The King’s Singers, arguably one of the world’s most renowned vocal ensembles, have found themselves in the spotlight despite themselves. While the group is currently touring the United States, one of their concerts has been cancelled due to the sexual orientation of one of their singers, with his ” lifestyle that contradicts Scripture” being cited as the reason for the cancellation. The Florida-based Pensacola Christian College, where the concert was to take place, is a religious institution that says it ” cannot knowingly give an implied or direct endorsement of anything that violates the Holy Scripture”. This is the first time in the 55-year history of the multi-award-winning King’s Singers that a concert has been cancelled. The group issued this response: « We hope that any conversations that follow might encourage a greater sense of love, acceptance, and inclusion ».
