Domino effect at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. The cancellation of the beginning of the opera season 2020-2021 has consequence on the 2021 season.

For scheduling reasons, the Met cancels the revival of Berg’s Lulu production and replaces it with additional performances of Rossini’s Barbiere di Siviglia starring Brenda Rae who is switching from the title role of Lulu to Rosina.

Other modifications, the Met will present additional performances of Puccini’s La Bohème, Bizet’s Carmen, and Verdi’s La Traviata during the month of February when the house was previously scheduled to be dark. Angel Blue, Joseph Calleja, Varduhi Abrahamyan, or Roberto Alagna will be part of the casts.
