Although it has participated in the success of many festival evenings, the Orchestre de Paris has not returned to Aix in four years. This 2022 season marks the great return of the Orchestra to the city of Aix, which will even be in residence at the Festival International d’Art Lyrique d’Aix-en-Provence with three events. Richard Strauss’ Salome in Andrea Breth’s new production is conducted by Ingo Metzmacher. Romeo Castellucci is staging Mahler’s Resurrection Symphony No. 2 conducted by Esa-Pekka-Salonen, who will also lead the Orchestre de Paris to perform Messiaen’s Turangalîla-Symphonie.
