Spectacular is the adjective often used to describe the Aida that Hugo de Ana conceived in 1998 with almost 300 artists. For the opening of its 2022-2023 opera season on 24 October, Madrid’s Teatro Real is reviving Verdi’s masterpiece with different casts.
There will be 20 performances conducted by Nicola Luisotti, Daniel Oren and Diego García Rodríguez with the greatest Verdian voices of today. Aida will be sung by Maria Agresta, Roberta Mantegna, Anna Netrebko and Krassimira Stoyanova, followed by three Radamés (Piotr Beczala, Yusif Eyvazov and Jorge de León), three Amneris (Jamie Barton, Sonia Ganassi and Ketevan Kemoklidze) and three Amonasro (Carlos Álvarez, Artur Ruciński and Gevorg Hakobyan).
