The ultimate ceremony of Pierre Lacotte

Today the dance world is paying its last respects to the great choreographer Pierre Lacotte. On 10 April, his wife Ghislaine Thesmar, danseuse étoile, announced the passing of the master of dance at the age of 91.
Student at the Paris Opera School of Dance, then a dancer at the prestigious Paris Opera House, he became a teacher and above all a choreographer.
As a dance historian, he leaves behind a legacy of classic repertoire such as “Paquita“, “La Sylphide” and “La Fille du Pharaon“, which he revived from the archives for the world’s greatest companies (Paris Opera, Metropolitan Opera, Bolshoi, etc.).
His last ballet “Le Rouge et le Noir“, an adaptation of Stendhal’s novel, was presented on the Palais Garnier stage in 2021.

The most sincere condolences go to Ghilslaine Thesmar and also to the Opéra national de Paris, which he considered as “his home”.
