Verdi’s Macbeth will be conducted by Myung-Whun Chung

Is Damiano Michieletto the best director of the Teatro La Fenice de Venice? For the 2018/2019 season opening of the most prestigious and gorgeous Italian Opera (and certainly in all other the world), Michieletto is staging a new production of Verdi’s Macbeth. It is his ninth production at La Fenice in Venice after Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette, a Mozart-Da Ponte trilogy with Don Giovanni, Le Nozze di Figaro and Cosí fan tutte, but also Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Stravinsky’s Rake’s Progress, Lehár’s Die lustige Witwe and even opera world’s premier of Filippo Perocco’s Aquagranda.

Verdi’s Macbeth will be running from Friday 23 November with Chorus and Orchestra of the Venetian Theater conducted by Myung-Whun Chung. The cast should be perfect with soprano Tatiana Serjan as of Lady Macbeth and baritone Luca Salsi in the title role. Salsi is reputated to be one of the best Verdian baritone.
