Women composers taken seriously in Berlin

Not a single concert without a woman composer on the programme! The new 2023/2024 season of the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin is distinguished by its commitment to artists who have been left in the shadows for too long. Robin Ticciati, Principal Conductor and Artistic Director of the renowned Berlin orchestra, will program at least one work by a female composer of classical music from the 12th century to the present. Unsuk Chin opens the season, soon to be followed by Jessie Montgomery, Camille Pépin, Helen Grime, Fanny Mendelssohnn, Elizabeth Ogonek, Anna Clyne, Olga Neuwirth, Thea Musgrave, Caroline Shaw, Hildegard Von Bingen, Lotta Wennäkoski, Charlotte Bray, Ethel Smyth, Maija Einfelde Lili Boulanger, Kaija Saariaho, Lera Auerbach, Morfydd Llwyn Owen, Ina Boyle, Louise Farrenc, Andrea Tarrodi, Clara Schumann and Marianna Von Martines.
