]]> The director Ted Huffman is flying from success to success. After his acclaimed Monteverdi in Aix-en-Provence last summer, his new production is eagerly awaited at the Oper Zürich, especially as it is a Shakespearean drama. From 10 April to 18 May 2023, Charles Gounod‘s masterpiece Romeo and Juliet will be conducted by Roberto Forés Veses with a new line-up. Benjamin Bernheim and Julie Fuchs have never before performed the lovers of Verona together. The tenor will reprise the role at the Opéra Bastille but with a new Juliet, Elsa Dreisig.

]]> While Matthias Schulz, the new director of the Oper Zürich, one of Europe’s most prestigious Opera House, will only be in charge from the 2025/26 season onwards, he has just taken his first decision by requesting the extension of the contract of conductor Gianandrea Noseda, who will remain until at least the 2027/28 season. Noseda has been General Music Director of the Opernhaus Zürich since the beginning of the 2021/22 season.
