Only debutants at Rome’s Santa Cecilia

In April, May and June 2023, the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia will welcome no fewer than four artists who will be making their debut with one of Italy’s most prominent orchestras. On 4, 5 and 6 May, the German conductor Markus Stenz, who has conducted all over the world, will lead the Roman orchestra for the first time in a Fauré, Scriabin and Rachmaninov programme. Piedmont will be in the spotlight in Rome with the Turinese conductor Antonello Manacorda on 27, 28 and 29 April. He will take the podium at Santa Cecilia for the first time with Richard Strauss, Brahms and Schubert. Two young Frenchmen will close the season on 8, 9 and 10 June. Jérémie Rhorer conducts Saint-Saëns’ Danse macabre and the Third Symphony “with organ”, as well as Tchaikovsky’s Second Piano Concerto, entrusted to the virtuosity of Alexandre Kantorow, considered the “young Tsar of the piano”. But perhaps the most moving event on 13, 14 and 15 April 2023 will be Antonio Pappano‘s farewell concert as music director. He has invited the soprano Asmik Grigorian to join him. She will be making her debut, while he will be saying goodbye…
