]]> The great American choreographer John Neumeier has just turned a page in his exemplary artistic life. Having just bid farewell to the Hamburg Ballet, which he directed for 51 years, the choreographer is not giving up the stage. Beginning in the 1940s, his career, recently crowned with a “lifetime achievement award” by the specialized magazine tanz, continues as a curator and impresario. From September 26 to October 13, 2024, the third edition of the festival The World of John Neumeier will be held in Baden-Baden, at the Festspielhaus, and throughout the city.

]]> Following the announcement that the Berliner Philharmoniker will be returning to Salzburg from 2026, Baden-Baden is calling on a new generation of artists to maintain its prestigious Easter Festival at the same level of excellence. In order to “broaden the European vision”, the Koninklijk Concertgebouworkest in Amsterdam and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra will take over as main orchestras of the Festival from 2026. Conductors Joana Mallwitz and Klaus Mäkelä will play a central role in Baden-Baden‘s future artistic programming. In the meantime, the next two editions in 2024 and 2025 will feature the Berliner, who have been in residence at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden since 2013.

]]> Jonathan Tetelman, the new tenor the world over has been snapping up, is Werther in Baden-Baden, directed by Robert Carsen. Having already performed the role in Lima and Montevideo, the American-Chilean artist offers his European premiere on 24 and 26 November 2023 to Festspielhaus audiences who will be able to say “I was there”. As well as Thomas Hengelbrock conducting, his partners are Kate Lindsey, Brandon Cedel and the all-too rare Elsa Benoit.

]]> After performing the premiere of an Aucoin, Bernstein, Tchaikovsky and Verdi concert at Carnegie Hall in New York (22 June 2023), Yannick Nézet-Séguin is taking his orchestra to Europe. The Met Orchestra is expected to perform on 27 June 2023 at the Philharmonie de Paris and on 2 July at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden with soprano Renée Fleming to perform as Desdemona in Act IV of Verdi’s Otello alongside tenor Russell Thomas. As the soprano withdrew from the performance, Angel Blue replaced her, bringing a touch of blue to the dark drama!

]]> For many seasons now, the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden has established itself as one of the most important German concert venues thanks to its rich program.

This year again, prestigious orchestras are on stage (the Berliner Philharmoniker, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Mariinsky Orchestra…) as well as international soloists (Yuja Wang, Gautier Capuçon, Julia Fischer…). In addition to dance with great choreographers and a series of classical ballets (Swan Lake, The Nutcracker), opera is not left out with Idomeneo by Mozart and Mazeppa by Tchaikovsky.

Tickets are available from September to December 2021 HERE.
