A renowned composer, violinist, and singer, she is the youngest recipient of the<strong> Pulitzer Prize for Music</strong>, which she won in<strong> 2013</strong> for <strong><em>Partita for 8 Voices</em></strong> at the age of thirty! From <strong>November 20 to 23, 2024</strong>, the <strong>Philharmonie de Paris</strong> is dedicating a series of concerts to her so that the French public can become better acquainted with the American artist. <strong>Klaus Mäkelä</strong>, leading the <strong>Orchestre de Paris</strong>, will ensure the French premiere of<strong> <em>The Observatory</em></strong> (<strong>November 20 and 21</strong>, <strong>Grande salle Pierre Boulez</strong>). On the<strong> 22nd</strong>, excerpts from<strong> <em>Partita for 8 Voices</em></strong> will be performed by the vocal ensemble <strong>Roomful of Teeth</strong> (<strong>Salle des concerts &#8211; Cité de la musique</strong>). Finally,<strong> Caroline Shaw</strong> herself will take the stage, accompanied by <strong>Gabriel Kahane</strong>, to perform<strong> <em>Hexagons</em></strong>, a piece they co-wrote together.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>On <strong>12 and 27 November 2021</strong>, the entire <strong>Théâtre des Champs-Elysées</strong> will blow out the candles by hosting two major events as <a href="https://www.music-opera.com/en/theatre-des-champs-elysees-france-paris/gala-concert-1005300.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Le Concert d&#8217;Astrée</strong></span> </a>and <a href="https://www.music-opera.com/en/theatre-des-champs-elysees-france-paris/birthday-gala-concert-1005396.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>L&#8217;Ensemble Matheus</strong></span></a> celebrate their anniversaries. For the <strong>20th anniversary</strong> of her orchestra, <strong>Emmanuelle Haïm</strong> has built a Campra, Haendel, Purcell and Rameau programme (on Friday 12 November). She invited her artist friends, such as Natalie Dessay, Sabine Devieilhe, Julie Fuchs, Patricia Petibon, Sandrine Piau, Isabelle Druet, Eva Zaïcik, Tim Mead, Mathias Vidal, Rolando Villazón and many others. On Saturday 27 November, it is <strong>Jean-Christophe Spinosi</strong>&#8216;s turn, who for his 30th birthday, welcomes Marie-Nicole Lemieux, Philippe Jaroussky and Florian Boesch, among others, for a great jazz, rap, song and pop karaoke, as well as opera excerpts from Handel, Rossini, Verdi, Mozart, Vivaldi and Monteverdi. <p>A <strong>symphonic programme on Wednesday 18 November 2020 at 8.30 pm</strong>, the famous Australian conductor <strong><a href="https://www.music-opera.com/fr/artiste/31970-simone-young.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Simone Young</span></a></strong> (replacing Klaus Mäkelä who is unable to attend) conducts Strauss&#8217;s Vier Letzte Lieder (The Last Four Lieder) and Brahms&#8217; Symphony No. 4 with soprano Elza van den Heever.</p>
<p><strong>Opera on Friday 27 November at 8:30 pm</strong>, Pascal Dusapin&#8217;s love tragedy Penthesilea in concert version is conducted by Ariane Matiakh with the Accentus Chamber Choir and a five-star cast featuring Georg Nigl, Christel Loetzsch, Marisol Montalvo, Paul Gay and Noa Frenkel.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The <a href="https://www.music-opera.com/en/institution/philharmonie-de-paris.html?persons=27198" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Paris’ Philharmonie</strong></span></a> was supposed to welcome the great Russian conductor <strong>Tugan Sokhiev</strong> to conduct two concert series of the <strong><a href="https://www.music-opera.com/en/institution/orchestre-de-paris.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Orchestre de Paris</span> </a>in September and October 2020</strong>, but health constraints on air traffic prevented him from doing so!</p>
<p>The good news is that the concerts will take place, with two luxury replacements: <strong>Esa-Pekka Salonen</strong> (23 &amp; 24 September 2020) and <strong>Paavo Järvi</strong> (30 September and 1 October 2020) will conduct.</p>
<p>The programmes change, not the soloists (Lukas Geniušas and then Gil Shaham). Tugan Sokhiev will normally return to Paris to conduct the Orchestre de Paris on the <strong>18th and 19th of October 2020</strong>.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The new musical director of the <strong>Orchestre de Paris</strong> is twice in the News. It was the suspense of the Parisian season. Finally, the name has been revealed and it’s a nice surprise.</p>
<p><strong>Klaus Mäkelä</strong> was born in Helsinski in 1996. He therefore became the youngest music director ever appointed and also the eighth. According the artist’s schedule, he is firts named musical advisor from <strong>September 1, 2020</strong> before officially becoming music director in September 2022. One good news may hide another.</p>
<p>On this occasion, the <strong>Philharmonie de Paris</strong> reopens on <strong>Thursday, July 9, 2020</strong> to welcome the Orchestre de Paris conducted by Klaus Mäkelä in a short program with Ravel&#8217;s Le Tombeau de Couperin and, Beethoven&#8217;s Symphony No. 7.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Double actualité pour le nouveau directeur musical de l’<strong>Orchestre de Paris.</strong> La célèbre phalange parisienne aura entretenu le suspense toute la saison. Elle vient enfin de dévoiler le nom de son nouveau chef et c’est une belle surprise.</p>
<p><strong>Klaus Mäkelä</strong> est né à Helsinski en 1996. Il devient donc le<strong> huitième directeur musical</strong> et également le plus jeune chef jamais nommé. Compte tenu de l’agenda de l’artiste, il sera conseiller musical à partir du <strong>1er septembre 2020</strong> avant d’occuper officiellement ses fonctions à la rentrée 2022. Une bonne nouvelle peut en cacher une autre.</p>
<p>A cette occasion, la <strong>Philharmonie de Paris</strong> rouvre ses portes le jeudi 9 juillet 2020 pour accueillir l’Orchestre de Paris dirigé par Klaus Mäkelä dans un court programme avec Le Tombeau de Couperin de Ravel et surtout, la Symphonie n° 7 de Beethoven.</p>
